Project Spotlight - Benner Township Prison
This past summer Dryvit released their latest and most environmental friendly system to date. In mid September Novinger Group Inc, located in Middletown, PA, began the first major project using Dryvit’s brand new Outsulation X system.  Dryvit’s Outsulation X provides a high performance cladding choice for new construction or renovation. Dryvit’s Outsulation X brochure states, “Dryvit Outsulation X is a highly energy efficient, design flexible, and cost effective exterior cladding system for all types of construction, and meets both current and proposed ASHRAE design standards and IGCC/IECC code requirements for the use of exterior continuous insulation (ci).” On September 9, 2011 Novinger Group began their inaugural project using the Dryvit Outsulation X system. The 10,000 sq. ft. job located just outside of State College, PA in Bellefonte is the largest Outsulation X job in the country to date.
Mike LeRoy, the northeast regional manager of Dryvit Systems, is excited about the first Dryvit Outsulation X job. “It’s nice to have a long time experienced customer like Novingers get the first Outsualtion X project in the country. Their quality of work is second to none and you’re reminded of that as soon as you take one look at the project.”
Benner Township Prison added a new correctional facility building on their campus, which comprises of the facility and an office building connected to it. Novinger Group was tasked with completing the office portion of the building. Hensel Phelps Construction Company (VA) was the general contractor, while Moseley Architects were the architect of the project.
“An insulated stucco system was what the job was originally specified for” stated Manning Materials sales associate John Roehm, “but the change to (Dryvit) Outsulation X was made due to the desire for a more impact-resistant and energy-efficient system.”
Dryvit Outsulation X combines faster, less costly construction, lower energy bills, less environmental impact and a lifetime warranty potential. The system is a single source solution for the air and weather barrier, insulation, and aesthetic components of the exterior wall.
